Joshua John Gunnee was due on the 3rd of December 2008 but I ended up going into
hospital to be enduced on the 15th of December. Joshua was born at 12.33pm on Tuesday
the 16th of December, my birthday! There were complications during labour and the
doctors were worried about Joshua's heartbeat so I ended up having an emergency cessarian.
When Josh came out the cord was wrapped around his neck twice and he had breathing
difficulties and a chest infection. He was rushed down to the special nursery where
he spent his first couple of days in intensive care and then was moved to High dependancy
for the next few days. Joshua recovered well and was brought up to spend the last
two days in hospital with me. After my surgery I had a blood clot and lost two litres
of blood. The midwives and surgeons were great and saved my life. The pediatric team
saved Josh's life too and that's why I wanted to raise money to say thank you to
the Special Nursery and Aberdeen maternity hospital for saving us.
I raised £500 on
my 24th birthday party, a year on from when we were in hospital. I had a karaoke
party and did a collection to raise the money.
Our grateful thanks go to everyone who helped us raise this amount.
